MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Palomino Exhibitors,
The show is over & what a show it was. With almost 50 horses, classes were of good size, with awesome judging & typical Jersey weather. The nine-judged weekend provided classes for walk/trotters, all aged youth, amateurs & select & open riders. There was everything from halter & color to hunt seat to parade & western & games…..something to suit your particular discipline.
We are now gearing up for our 2009 shows. Please send me your suggestions asap as we will be meeting in September. One of the ideas under consideration is how to make showing more affordable. Here is a notion, let me know what you think about it: There is a flat fee per horse of $800 for the weekend. For this you receive 1 stall & 3 bags of bedding, PHBA fees, NJPEA fees & your horse can show in any class regardless of the rider. Camper fees are not included in this price. Of course, there would be other fee schedules offered as not all horses go in enough classes to make this viable. An all day fee would be available as well as reduced-rate regular show fees for those who only show in a couple of classes.
It is important that you think these ideas through & let me know your reaction. Submit your ideas.
Also remember New Jersey is, to date, one of the largest shows east of the Mississippi !! This certainly is something to be proud of & in order to keep this up we must make exhibitors happy. Reduced rates & creative financing is the path to take. And this is why it is so important for you to let me know what you think! I believe once exhibitors from further afield know how big this year's shows were, they will come & 2009 will be even bigger & better!
And, I am extremely grateful to the following people for their time & generosity in making this show work. Ron, for being there all the time for everything; Amanda, open show manager; Bob, trail set-up Sunday; Marissa, gate person reliever; Elaine, gate person all weekend long; Maureen, gate person reliever; Boots, point keeping; Debbie, ordering circuit awards; Kelli Horner, donating the halter for the high point youth halter horse; & Stitching Horse Tack, open lead line award.
Also, a very special “thank you” to out office manager, Rita & her assistant, Jan; Heidi, our ring steward; Vicki Parker, announcer on Friday & for the open show; MaryAnnFielitz, our Saturday & Sunday announcer; and to our judges, who do a fabulous job.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all for coming to show & support New Jersey . I eagerly look forward to your ideas & suggestions for the 2009 show season.
